Terms of use

These terms govern your use of tallytax.co and the matching service offered through it. Read them alongside our Privacy policy.

Last updated September 11, 2026. Tally Tax is a business operating from Loveland, Colorado.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By using this site or submitting a request through it, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the site.

You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States to submit a request.

2. What Tally Tax is, and what it isn’t

Tally Tax is a matching service. We take the information you submit and send it to one independent tax professional whose practice covers the kind of situation you described.

We are not a law firm, an accounting firm, a CPA firm, or a tax preparer. We do not provide tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice, and nothing on this site is advice of any kind. Using this site does not create an attorney-client relationship, an accountant-client relationship, or any other professional relationship between you and Tally Tax.

We do not represent you before the IRS or any state tax authority, and we do not handle, negotiate, resolve, or settle tax matters.

3. How matching works

When you submit a request, we look for one professional in our network whose practice covers your described situation and send your request to that professional only. We do not distribute your request to multiple firms.

We verify that the professionals in our network hold an active license or credential. We do not rate, rank, evaluate, endorse, recommend, or guarantee any professional, the quality of their work, their fees, or the outcome of your matter. A match is not a recommendation.

We do not guarantee that a match will be found, that a professional will contact you, that they will contact you within any particular timeframe, or that they will agree to take your matter. Any professional may decline to work with you for any lawful reason, and you may decline to work with them.

4. Your relationship with a matched professional

Any professional you are matched with is an independent third party. They are solely responsible for their own services, advice, fees, conduct, licensing, and compliance with the law. We do not supervise or control their work.

Any agreement you enter into with a professional is between you and them. Tally Tax is not a party to it. Before hiring anyone, ask for their fees and the scope of their work in writing, and verify their credentials yourself. You can look up CPAs through CPAverify or your state board of accountancy, attorneys through your state bar, and credentialed preparers through the IRS directory of tax preparers.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Tally Tax from any claims, demands, disputes, or damages arising out of your dealings with any professional you are matched with, including the services they provide, the fees they charge, and the outcome of your matter.

5. Cost and how we are paid

Using this site and submitting a request is free to you. Tally Tax does not charge consumers.

Tax professionals pay Tally Tax a flat fee for each request we send them. That fee is not a percentage of what you owe, is not based on what the professional charges you, and is not contingent on the outcome of your matter. We are paid the same whether or not you hire the professional and regardless of what happens with your case.

If you hire a professional, you pay them directly under whatever agreement you make with them. Their fees are their own and are not set, collected, or shared by us.

6. The information you give us

You agree that the information you submit is accurate, complete, and your own, and that you have the authority to provide the phone number and email address you enter. Do not submit anyone else’s information without their permission.

Please do not send us Social Security numbers, tax return documents, bank or financial account details, or other sensitive records. We do not ask for them and do not need them. Share those only with a professional you decide to work with.

We handle the information you submit as described in our Privacy policy, which includes the fact that we sell it to the professional we match you with.

7. Consent to be contacted

When you check the consent box and submit a request, you agree that Tally Tax and the one tax professional matched to your request may contact you about your tax situation at the phone number and email address you provided, including by calls and text messages that may use automated technology or prerecorded or artificial voice messages. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Your consent is not a condition of any purchase.

You can withdraw consent at any time. Reply STOP to any text message, tell a caller that you want the calls to stop, email privacy@tallytax.co, or use our privacy request form. Telling us to stop does not automatically stop a professional we already matched you with from contacting you, so tell them directly as well.

You also agree that we may send you communications electronically, including by email and text, and that electronic communications satisfy any legal requirement that a communication be in writing.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may refuse service, decline to route a request, or block access to the site at any time, for any lawful reason, without notice.

9. Our content

The content on this site, including text, layout, design, graphics, and the Tally Tax name and logo, belongs to Tally Tax or is used with permission, and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may view and use the site for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Any other use requires our written permission.

10. Third-party sites

This site may link to sites we don’t operate, including our site for tax professionals and public license lookup tools. We provide those links for convenience. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any site we don’t control.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The site and the matching service are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tally Tax disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error free, that any information on it is accurate or current, that a match will be made, that a professional will contact you, or that any particular result will be achieved in your tax matter.

Some states do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tally Tax and its owners, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost data, lost opportunity, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the site or the matching service, whether based in contract, tort, statute, or any other theory, and even if we have been advised of the possibility of those damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the site or the matching service will not exceed one hundred dollars ($100).

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tally Tax and its owners, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of your use of the site, your violation of these terms, your violation of any law, or information you submitted that was inaccurate or that you had no right to submit.

14. Disputes with us

If you have a problem with Tally Tax, contact us first at hello@tallytax.co. Most issues can be resolved that way, and we ask that you give us 30 days to try before starting a formal proceeding.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Larimer County, Colorado, and you and Tally Tax each consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing here prevents either party from bringing an individual claim in small claims court.

15. Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Changes apply going forward from the date they are posted. If you continue using the site after that, you accept the updated terms. The terms in effect when you submitted a request govern that request.

16. General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These terms, together with our Privacy policy, are the entire agreement between you and Tally Tax about the site and the matching service.
